CLN WITH 250 PARTICIPANTS IN BANGKOK

The Combined Logistics Networks (CLN), formerly known as the Combined Freight Network, has once again broken their record attendance with 250 participants during their annual meeting on May 22-26, 2007 held in Shangri-La, Bangkok. The event hosted 4 alliances namely Combined Freight Network, SeaConsol Network, AirConsol Network, and Projects and Heavylifts Alliance.

The CLN group has now established a steady following of logistics companies from all over the world with 700 members worldwide. The formula of CLN’s success is to provide logistics firms with a platform to transact business amongst themselves in a secured and safe environment, wherein members are properly screened on their performance and commitment towards the group.

The concept of CLN is to foster small and medium-sized premium alliances under the umbrella, and avoid large groupings that are purely designed for networking. “Instead of just providing a platform to meet members, we promote the business to be transacted within the network. This can only be done with trusted working groups of committed forwarders. Futhermore, members are not just looking for partners in one country, they are looking for the right fit now, and judging based on their focus and strength,” said Nils Walle, CFO of Raeuber & Walle Solutions Limited.

Growth is generally an indicator of success however it is important to grow under the right base and towards the right direction. The CLN group has further developed the network towards niche alliances with large success. A prime example is the seafreight consolidator’s alliance named SeaConsol Network, the most successful network of the group surpassing the general cargo network named CFN.

CLN is continuously getting support from the freight community and has now reached their initial level of maturity. “Today, we sit at the forefront of the freight alliance business and can say that we are a serious player in the market. Having reached this point is only the beginning of our journey. It is now that the fun starts, as the only way forward is to innovate,” said Christian Raeuber, CEO of Raeuber & Walle Solutions.
